On this week's show, three discussion guests looked at the original design of the American President's office, its changes through time, where it stands today and where it may be going in its third century. They also tracked the American presidency's evolution by talking about the men who have occupied that office, shrinking and expanding it by the circumstances of the day and their own very different goals and personalities.

The discussion participants were Bruce Schulman, Associate Professor of History and Director of American and New England Studies Program at Boston University, Chet Atkins, former Massachusetts state representative and senator and a former U.S. Congressman, and Dr. Kathleen M. Dalton, an instructor of History and Social Science at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts.

This program aired on February 18, 2001.
