In this week's show we talked about two special events Boston University held recently that focused on honoring the past and looking forward to the future. On September 30, 2001, Boston University hosted the opening ceremonies for the West End House Boys and Girls Club fall basketball league. These ceremonies were dedicated to honoring war veterans and to saluting the heroes of the September 11 terrorist attacks on America. We spoke about these ceremonies and the West End House Club's programs with Joe Walsh, Director of Community Affairs at Boston University and Stephanie Wong, who plays for the West End Club's women's basketball team.

On October 4, 2001, Boston University President Jon Westling presented the stones from the original base of the Martin Luther King Jr. Monument at Boston University's Marsh Plaza as a gift to Dr. King's other alma mater, Morehouse College. The gift was accepted by Chair of the Board of Trustees at Morehouse College, the Reverend Dr. Otis Moss, who also delivered the annual Samuel DeWitt Proctor memorial sermon at this special service of worship. We will present excerpts from this ceremony and follow it with a conversation with the Reverend Anthony Campbell who is Preacher in Residence and Professor of Homiletics at Boston University and knew Martin Luther King Jr. personally.

This program aired on October 14, 2001.
