Since the September 11 terrorist attacks, America's superpower role in the world has come under closer scrutiny. One particular view, shared by both Americans and non-Americans, is gaining ground by the day — the American foreign policy is a unilateral one.

On this week's show, we heard some diplomatic yet pointed comments from Francois Barry De Longchamps, Deputy Chief of the Mission of France to the United States, on the recent American approaches to international events. Minister De Longchamps presented his views during a visit to Boston University's Center for International Relations this past spring, after which he took questions from the audience.

This program aired on July 7, 2002.
