Boston Ballet Director Mikko Nissinen (Rebroadcast)

On this show, Boston Ballet Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen talked about the future of ballet and his vision for the company. The discussion was sponsored by the Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center at Boston University as part of its Student Enrichment Series.

Mikko Nissinen is recognized internationally as an accomplished dancer, teacher, and artistic director. Born in Helsinki, Finland, Nissinen began his dance training at age ten, and by age 15, had launched his dance career. Nissinen went on to dance with Dutch National Ballet, Basel Ballet, and the San Francisco Ballet, where he held the position of principal dancer for ten years. He assumed the position of artistic director of Boston Ballet and the Boston Ballet Center for Dance Education in September 2001.
