Quincy Republican Ian Cain joins Senate race to unseat Warren

Another Republican is challenging Sen. Elizabeth Warren in her bid for re-election. Ian Cain, a Quincy City Councilor and co-founder of a blockchain technology incubator company, announced his candidacy Tuesday in a video posted on social media.

"I'm running to usher in the next generation of leadership, where leaders focus on embracing the innovation economy and the new digital world," said Cain in his campaign video.

After describing his personal and professional background, Cain went on the attack, saying the incumbent Democrat is "bogged down in partisan politics," and "incapable of delivering real results."

Cain is Quincy's first Black and openly gay city councilor. His campaign priorities include immigration enforcement, infrastructure improvements and strengthening the economy.

Cain joins Republican and crypto lawyer John Deaton in challenging the two term Senator. Deaton has attracted some donations from supporters and investors in the crypto currency industry, as Politico reported. Both Cain and Deaton face a long shot campaign against Warren, who is favored in heavily-Democratic Massachusetts.
