Statue Unveiled

The longest -serving mayor in Boston history, Kevin White, was honored in Boston today.

Mayor Thomas Menino participated in a Faneuil Hall ceremony in which a statue of White was unveiled. White was a four-term mayor in Boston, serving from 1968-1983.

"The statue is almost a 10-foot sculpture," said artist Pablo Eduardo, who was commissioned to create it. "It depicts him walking down, leaving Faneuil Hall, walking towards the water... leaving his administration, his legacy, behind."

WBUR spoke with Eduardo in his Gloucester studio earlier this year.

This program aired on November 1, 2006. The audio for this program is not available.
