BOSTON — The beloved principal of Patrick O’Hearn Elementary School in Dorchester will be retiring at the end of this school year. But his legacy will endure.

William Henderson is blind, and throughout his 20 years at O’Hearn, he has made inclusion a central tenet of his leadership. At a dedication ceremony on Tuesday, the school — where more than one-third of the racially and ethnically diverse students at the school have disabilities — was renamed the William Henderson Elementary School.
