WBURCoakley Leads In Fundraising For U.S. Senate Campaign

Sprint To The Senate

Complete coverage »

There are no official tallies yet, but state Attorney General Martha Coakley is apparently leading the pack in fundraising for the abbreviated U.S. Senate campaign.

  • Coakley has raised $2 million since entering the race at the beginning of September, her campaign spokeswoman said.
  • City Year co-founder Alan Khazei raised more than $1 million in the last two weeks, his spokesman said. Khazei said he did not take any money from political action groups or lobbyists.
  • Rep. Michael Capuano, D-Somerville, raised $300,000 dollars in the last two weeks, his campaign said.
  • Boston Celtics co-owner and venture capitalist Stephen Pagliuca raised about $200,000 over the last four or five days, according to his campaign spokesman. Pagliuca, whose worth is estimated at $400 million, is expected to finance much of his own campaign.
  • Republican contender and state Sen. Scott Brown said he raised $154,525 over 18 days of fundraising, from 900 donors.

The candidates have until Oct. 15 to report their official fundraising tallies and campaign spending to the Federal Election Commission.

Of course she leads and she leads in the Polls too. Capuano is my Congressman and I must say he has been dismal in terms of what he has produced or done. Other than go along with everything Ted Kennedy said or wanted. I had no problem with Ted, but I do have a provblem with a Congressman who has no mind of his own or does nothing.

They all should use some of the money to buy some expert advice on the Afagnistan war. Coakley says that the U.S. mission may be finished there. The Taliban totally maginilize woman (and kill gays) amoung other things and any candidate who has the endorement of Emily’s List should be as concerned in measure with woman outside the boundries of the United States. It is clear to me that U.S. troop strength in Afganistan is going to be increased and I support the action. The option of leaving an undermanned force there is not resonable and it seems to be the only other option on the table. With any luck an increase in U.S. troop strength will bring a lessening of troop casulties. This is how the Gay guy in the race for United States Senator is talking today with no money raised and no money spent. How we all might want to vote down the road: Gay, no other way.
