In Brookline, Khazei Casts His Vote And Expects Strong Support

BROOKLINE, Mass. — Democratic candidate Alan Khazei cast his vote early Tuesday morning at Brookline Town Hall. He showed up with his wife, Vanessa Kirsch, and their two children.

“I love democracy. To see my name there, and being able to vote and have my family with me, it’s a big day,” Khazei said.

“But most of all it’s a big day for Massachusetts.”

Khazei supporters held signs outside in the brisk early air as a trickle of voters entered the polling station.

He said he hopes many people will vote today despite the predicted low turn-out. “This is our democracy in action. It’s a privilege. People have died for the right to vote.”

Khazei, 48, is a political newcomer who started the youth activism program City Year and other civic engagement programs.
