WBURListen: No Regrets With Health Vote Nay, Says Rep. Lynch

BOSTON — Nine of Massachusetts’ 10 Democratic congressmen voted to pass the Senate’s version of the national health care overhaul in the House of Representatives Sunday night. The lone holdout was South Boston’s Rep. Stephen Lynch.

After following through on his pledge to vote against the overhaul, Lynch joined WBUR Monday and said he doesn’t think he will regret his vote.

“I think that my concerns will be borne out,” Lynch said. “And it won’t take long. All we got to do is wait for the, you know, quarterly results in probably two or three quarters of the insurance companies. They are going to rack up some massive, massive profits.”

Thank God this has finally passed. The Republicans have behaved absolutely childishly. Of course a bipartisan compromise would have been better, but apparently they cannot accept a bipartisan government. I guess they’ll do everything they can to continue blocking major legislation. What a shame to waste so much time and energy!

When the Republican party had the chance – for 8 years – to propose changes to the current health care system, they did nothing. Why? Because they truly do not want it to change. They veil that with an ‘it’s un-American” slogan that is easily seen through. The could truly care less about the average struggling American family, or the guy who thinks he is more patritoic than anyone else. This is all about protecting the insurance companies, and the neo-conservatives they are beholden to. If they truly beleived in what they espouse, they would have gone after the insurance companies themselves during the Bush years to avoid this type of bill. Instead, the placed their bets with a policy of instilling fear in the voters, and claiming on our behalf, that we weren’t for this. The REPUBLICANs should be ashamed, and they probaly are, given how vociferous they are, that it got to this point.

great news…you democraps OWN this bill…the higher premiums, the higher taxes, the job losses associated with the higher taxes on small businessess and large businesses and basically everyone who has a job. All this coupled with $50 Billion in cuts to medicare, 32 million new people in the currently overburdened system, healthcare rationing as soon as the money runs out…oh, no, I forget, the money has already runout. We are now offically borrowing from China to pay social security. You all had control of Congress and the Senate the past four years….if this was such an emergency why did you not have Nazi Pelosi pass the legislation then? Blaming verything on George Bush is getting old quickly. It is time for the man child to own up and man up. You dems have your heads in the sand and are delusional with your magic checkbook. You have just sent this country backwards and now we all will walk in darkness for years….we gave you enough rope and you hung us all. MORONS! Keep on listening to NPR….duh!
