Listen: Senate's Plan A 'Fiscal Crisis' Budget, Analyst Says
ResumeWith the next fiscal year looming on July 1, state Senate budget leaders detailed their spending plan on Wednesday.
The Senate Ways and Means Committee's plan includes cuts for state agencies and local aid, but doesn't increase taxes or dip into state reserves. The $27.8 billion budget relies on federal stimulus funds and other one-time sources to help balance the books.
The full Senate takes up budget debate next week.
For analysis of the spending plan, WBUR was joined by Noah Berger, the executive director of the Massachusetts Budget and Policy Center.
This program aired on May 20, 2010.
