WBURBoston’s O’Malley To Investigate Irish Clergy Abuse

BOSTON — The Vatican has nominated Boston Cardinal Sean O’Malley to be one of the investigators looking into the clergy abuse scandal in Ireland.

In announcing the Vatican investigation Monday, Pope Benedict XVI said Cardinal O’Malley will be one of nine so-called apostolic visitors to Ireland. They will look at the Irish church procedures to prevent abuse and how they might be improved. The investigators will also report their findings to the Vatican.

In a statement, Cardinal O’Malley says he’s humbled by his nomination.

The archbishop of Dublin says Cardinal O’Malley is particularly suited to address what he calls a dark moment in the Irish church’s history. The Irish government released two reports last year detailing widespread abuse in churches and church-run state institutions and a cover up by Catholic officials.

Cardinal O’Malley dealt with similar issues when the clergy abuse scandal broke in Boston in 2002.

The review could begin as early as this summer.

    Too little, too late.
When are the “Apostolic Visitors” going to face the real issue? The real issue being the corrupt system that allowed this horrendous activity to flourish. Jesus taught that when power, prestige or possessions become more important than people, then evil will flourish.

The Catholic Church as we know it is dying, and I hope its death comes soon.

    Dear Joe the Plummer,

…I don’t think the Church is dying. I suggest you to know more on how they are dealing with sex abuse crisis. I’ve worked with the report “bad apples”. I’m copiyng you a part of it:

The documentary “Bad Apples” shows the role of cardinal O’Malley in dealing the sex abuse crisis. It is a documentary that for the first time, gives a world wide perspective on clerical sex abuse. It looks at the devastating situation in Ireland and the promising response in the United States.
This is the first time a film tracks the Church’s response in different countries and comprehensively investigates the Vatican’s policy on the handling of sex abuse cases and it’s new attitude to confronting the crisis.

Yes, what a serious contemplation this was. Sending American Irish Bishops with him was such a good call. I barely know how to bet against it.

The Roman Catholic Church IS ALREADY DEAD and has been for millennium[s]. St Paul spoke of it to the new believers. Be careful not to listen to a gospel other than what Christ taught. They listened and thus the RCC.

We the people who have been, GENERATIONALLY BRAINWASHED, are certaintly taking a long time to get the picture, now that it’s been ten long yrs since the revelation of what’sreally been going on.

THIS IS NOT THE ONE AND ONLY HOLY AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH as they claim it to be. “YOU WILL KNOW THEM BY THEIR FRUITS”

So get over it! If YOU,want a life with Jesus Christ, it isn’t in the place you’ve spent your life in.

No denominational church would we ever go to. But a good non-denominational, Bible reading, Holy Spirit hearing, worshiping the Lord Jesus Christ Church, would be and is what we prefer.

We left the RCC in 2001 on our 50th Wedding Anniv. That’s going on 10 yrs.

We Praise and Thank Him for the revelation way back then.

What’s keeping you chained to the devil?
