WBURPoll: Patrick Losing Ground In Governor’s Race

BOSTON — A new poll shows Gov. Deval Patrick to be slowly losing ground in his race for re-election.

The latest Rasmussen poll shows 38 percent of likely voters support the governor, leaving him just six points ahead of Republican challenger Charles Baker. In May, Patrick’s lead stood at 14 points.

That could mean a renewed push for legislation on Beacon Hill, according to Jeffrey Berry, a political science professor at Tufts University.

“So I think that means they’re going to redouble the push on casinos, because they see that as momentum demonstrating that Deval Patrick can get things done,” Berry said.

Baker’s own numbers have held almost steady. The poll showed him with support of 32 percent of likely voters, up a tick from 31 points in May.

The independent candidate, state Treasurer Tim Cahill has seen his support pick up three points since May, and is now at 17.

The only number to go up significantly was the the number of undecideds.

Rasmussen, you have to be kidding. The worse poll out there.
    Partisan to a fault.

I voted for him in the last election but will not do so again. Just seeing all of the sound barrier projects that are being worked on while the roads and bridges themselves are crumbling says it all.

I blame the legislature not Patrick. Deleo and Murray are the problem. Cahill is a joke. Baker is one of the few Republicans that I would ever consider voting for, but that party is so horrible on the national level that I doubt I’ll ever vote for a Republican again.

Rasmussen is a Republican operative, so it’s difficult to take this at face value.

Why anyone would vote to encourage the Party of No, No, No, which will mightily strive to paralyze our government completely if it gets any measure of power is beyond me. The Republicans are more of a menace to the long term health of the republic than any terrorists will ever be.

I totally agree with Michael’s posting on July 27th
