WBURO’Malley Wins 6th District Council Seat

BOSTON — Matt O’Malley easily won a special election for the 6th City Council District on Tuesday.

O’Malley, 31, won 60 percent of the vote over James Hennigan’s 40 percent. The city reported 18.5 percent turnout in the district, which covers parts of Roslindale, West Roxbury and Jamaica Plain.

The seat was left vacant by John Tobin, who took an administrative job at Northeastern University in August.

O’Malley is a former political strategist. He owns a home in Jamaica Plain.
