Romney To Announce His Second Run For President

The time has finally come. After many months of speculation, and almost two months after opening an exploratory committee, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney will officially announce his candidacy for president Thursday.

Romney makes his announcement in New Hampshire, a critical battleground as he seeks the Republican nomination. He's chosen to hold the event in Stratham, an hour outside Manchester, at the farm of two longtime Republican supporters, Doug and Stella Scamman. The couple has been married for the past 48 years and have lived on their farm for 40 years.

We drove out to the Scammans' farm, just off Route 108, to visit ahead of Romney's arrival.

The two are about as New Hampshire Republican as it gets. Doug served 12 terms in the New Hampshire Legislature, twice as speaker of the House. Stella served three terms of her own, and was a founder and the first president of the Seacoast Republican Women.

Given their credentials, they weren't surprised to hear from Romney's team a couple weeks back, asking if he could use their farm to make his announcement.
