BOSTON — Now that Harvard Law School Prof. Elizabeth Warren won’t be running the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau — President Obama bypassed her over the weekend — speculation is heating up that she’ll challenge Scott Brown for his U.S. Senate seat in Massachusetts.

Warren did her best to avoid the question when asked Monday. But she also didn’t rule out a run.

David Catanese, national political reporter for Politico, has been following the Warren story. He joined Morning Edition Tuesday from Washington to discuss the speculation.

Please run!  The announced Democratic candidates have no chance.  Warren is a hero to the middle class.  Her honesty and courage are rare.

I would vote her for President. I hope she consider it at some point.

Please DO NOT run. I appreciate all the good work you have done, but  please look at the background and credentials of Bob Massie, who is one of the 6 announced candidates, on, for instance http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Massie_(politician . Please consider throwing your support behind him and to use your influence to endorse his candidacy. He stands for all the right things. Thank you.

Although I have no particular beef with Scott Brown, I am so disgusted with the republican party that I will likely vote democratic.  One could say this is being unfair to Mr. Brown.  However, he can still win my vote by publicly telling his party leadership to cut the crap and act like adults.  Hell, that even might make him a GOP leader once the crazy tea-party ideologues fade away.

As we listened to this report this morning my wife and I were dumbfounded by the guest’s general know-nothingness about politics, Massachusetts and Elizabeth Warren. I mentioned to my wife that many “political reporters” today don’t actually like politics, so they don’t keep up with politics or policy, only  gossip and insider conventional wisdom.  Your blurb above says that David Catanese has been “following” the Warren story. His commentary eloquently disputes that assertion. Of course, then I heard Bob Oakes describe the guest as a “political reporter” for “Politico.” It all came together, you bring on a guy whose business is writing worthless political gossip for a publication/site whose only purpose is to pass along worthless political gossip and insider silliness.  Give your audience a break, save “Politico” “reporters” for a  Page Six segment not for real political insight.
