BOSTON — With New England in the path of Hurricane Irene, emergency response officials are urging Massachusetts residents to be prepared.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency recommends preparing a disaster kit. The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) has tips to protect your home from a hurricane, a detailed plan in the event of an evacuation and power outage safety tips.

The National Weather Service issues detailed weather warnings and constantly monitors dangerous weather events like hurricanes. MEMA also recommends tracking storms at Stormpulse.
