BOSTON — The brother of one of James “Whitey” Bulger’s alleged victims is speaking out after actor Mark Wahlberg expressed interest in a jailhouse meeting with the reputed former mob boss.
Wahlberg told WAAF-FM Friday that Bulger has reached out and speculated Bulger wants to give him rights to his story. Wahlberg said he feels for loved ones of Bulger’s victims, but the story has tremendous potential.
Steven Davis — whose sister, Deborah Davis, was allegedly strangled by Bulger — told the Boston Herald that Bulger ruined his family and shouldn’t be glamorized. State Sen. Steven Brewer said Wahlberg’s interest shows lawmakers must pass a bill he proposed so that only Bulger’s victims profit from his story.
Bulger is accused of participating in 19 murders. He was caught last year after 16 years on the run.
