Former Boston Red Sox player Curt Schilling is unveiling the first video game created by his Rhode Island-based company 38 Studios. "Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning," a single-player, fantasy role-playing game is hitting shelves after five years and millions of dollars in development.

While the Tolkien-like game's design isn't groundbreaking, Ethan Gilsdorf, Boston-based author of the book, "Fantasy Freaks and Gaming Geeks," said people are watching closely because it is being pitched by Schilling.

"That kind of 'bling' factor of this sports star turning into a gaming mogul has got a lot of people curious — they're really wondering, 'Is this guy for real and is he going to produce a game that's going to be competitive with what's out there?' " Gilsdorf said, including blockbuster games like "Skyrim" and "Mass Effect."

This program aired on February 6, 2012. The audio for this program is not available.
