Red Sox, City Celebrate Fenway’s 100th
Jim Rice. Johnny Pesky. Carlton Fisk. Yaz. Nomar Garciaparra. Those are just some of the big Red Sox names who appeared at the just-concluded 100th birthday bash for Fenway Park.
Sounds Of Fenway's Centennial
According to the AP, more than 200 former players and coaches — including former manager Terry Francona, who received a loud ovation — were at the majors’ oldest ballpark to celebrate the anniversary of the “lyric little bandbox.” Fenway opened on April 20, 1912, for a Red Sox game against the New York Highlanders (who later became the Yankees).
The Sox are now under way against the Yanks. Both teams are sporting throwback uniforms.
