BOSTON — In his four seasons with the New England Patriots, linebacker Junior Seau was a favorite among fans and his fellow players, known for his always “upbeat” attitude.
But Thursday morning there’s another view emerging, as police investigate the apparent suicide of the 43-year-old former football player. Seau was found dead of a gunshot wound to the chest inside his home in Oceanside, Calif.
“There’s no indication of foul play,” said Oceanside Police Lt. Leonard Mata. “This is being investigated as a suicide. But again, the investigators do a thorough investigation and will rule out any possibility of foul play before the investigation is over.”
ESPNBoston.com reporter Mike Reiss, who covered Seau in his time with the Patriots, joined WBUR’s Morning Edition to talk about Seau’s career with the Patriots and his death.
