Rep. Tierney Brother-In-Law Sentenced To 3 Years In Prison

A brother-in-law of Rep. John Tierney was sentenced Thursday to three years in federal prison for his role in an illegal offshore gambling operation.

Daniel Eremian was convicted in December of helping to set up betting schemes for Antigua-based Sports Off Shore.

Tierney has said he had no knowledge of the operation. Outside the court, according to The Salem News' Julie Manganis, Eremian claimed that Tierney "knew everything."

As the Boston Herald reports:

Eremian, 62, is the congressman’s second close family member to be federally convicted in less than two years. His wife, Patrice Tierney, is still on supervised probation for helping her fugitive brother Robert Eremian file false tax returns in connection with his profits from [the gambling company].
