Politicians See Golden Ad Opportunities In The Olympics
BOSTON — Expect some politics when the Summer Olympics officially kick off.
Both major parties are buying local television time to air ads in Boston during the games.
Elizabeth Warren, the Democratic candidate to represent Massachusetts in the U.S. Senate, is buying more than $362,000 worth of television time on WHDH-TV during the Olympics.
Warren’s campaign has been mounting an extensive effort to reach voters by phone and door-to-door this summer.
Now the campaign is turning to the television audience — which is expected to be huge — to deliver a message.
Republicans, too, are buying time during the summer games.
The Republican National Committee is spending more than $100,000 on WHDH-TV.
It has not said which candidates it hopes to promote with the ads.
