Warren Gets Key Speaking Slot At Democratic Convention

Massachusetts U.S. Senate hopeful Elizabeth Warren has been given a primetime speaking slot at the Democratic National Convention.

Warren is hoping to oust Republican U.S. Sen. Scott Brown. She'll address the Charlotte, N.C., convention Sept. 5 just before former President Bill Clinton delivers his speech.

Warren is a popular figure among more liberal Democrats. She headed the Congressional Oversight Panel for the Troubled Asset Relief Program, the committee that examined the bank bailout. She also was the leading advocate for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau created under the 2010 overhaul of financial regulations.

Brown's campaign has described Warren as "anti-free enterprise."

Warren has been a prodigious fundraiser. She's pulled in more than $24.5 million from supporters, more than any other U.S. Senate candidate.

This program aired on July 31, 2012. The audio for this program is not available.
