Obama Campaign Tries To Woo N.C. Voters In Charlotte

03:16

Organizers of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte are promising this week's events will be open and accessible. The convention is also designed to give the Obama campaign a chance to win over the host state: North Carolina.

North Carolina is a swing state where neither the president nor Mitt Romney has a clear advantage yet. The week started with a street festival for the public, filled with games, food trucks and music. If the weather cooperates, it will close on Thursday night with a speech by President Obama in the huge Bank Of America Stadium.

Bob Oakes has this report for All Things Considered from Charlotte, N.C.

This program aired on September 4, 2012.
