Official: NHL Lockout Will Hurt Local Businesses

05:04

Without Bruins hockey games at the TD Garden during the NHL lockout, local businesses will take a significant financial hit, according to a top Boston tourism official.

Pat Moscaritolo, the president and CEO of the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau, predicts the NHL lockout that began Sunday will cost businesses anywhere from $850,000 to $1 million per game.

"Go down and talk to the people who work at these restaurants and sports bars in and around the area and to them, there is no question it will have an impact," Moscaritolo said.

The Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau bases that estimate on revenue lost at hotels, restaurants, transportation and vendors.

This program aired on September 16, 2012.
