Poll Shows Warren Leading Brown, Negative Ratings Up

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — A new poll of 567 likely voters in the U.S. Senate race in Massachusetts shows a mixed bag for Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren.

The poll, released Sunday by the Western New England University Polling Institute, shows Warren leading Republican incumbent U.S. Sen. Scott Brown among likely voters, 50 to 45 percent. The survey, conducted Sept. 28 – Oct. 4, has a 4.3 percent margin of error.

However, Warren’s unfavorablility rating is now 41 percent — eight percentage points higher than the same poll three weeks ago.

Poll director Tim Vercellotti say the rise is partly due to Brown’s attacks on Warren’s character.

“When we asked people what is the most important issue to you, 18 percent of Brown supporters say the morals, ethics, or personal integrity of the candidate,” Vercellotti said. “Eight percent of Warren supporters say the same.”

The poll also showed Brown’s unfavorability rating rose by 4 percentage points.

Vercellotti says the impact of advertising on the race cannot be discounted.

“People say, ‘No, no, no they don’t matter at all, I focus on the issues,’ ” Vercellotti said. “But the reality is they do have some impact, otherwise candidates wouldn’t spend hundreds of millions of dollars on campaign ads.”

Brown and Warren will face off in their third debate Wednesday in Springfield.

Thank God! We need Senator Warren representing Massachusetts! Scott Brown can come back to Mass and drive around in his truck.

I’m a Democrat I’m voting for Brown. I hate the attack ads on both sides, but when it comes down to the issues, I support his stance more and his way of getting business done. Sorry guys… :)

Would love to know what issues Brown supports that you believe in.

I see Elizabeth Warren criticizing Scott Brown’s votes.

I see Scott Brown making personal attacks on Elizabeth Warren’s looks, family, ethnic heritage, character and professionalism.

-Looks: He said “thank god” she didn’t pose naked (like he did.)
-Family: ethnic heritage: he says she’ not Cherokee, as you can see
-Character: hired gun for corporations who legal work caused more damages to the victims, sometime without evidence and someimes by distorting the truth.
-Professionalism: said her research was bad, plagiarized on a cook book

Did you know Scott Brown’s campaign manager is Jim Barnett, a protege of Karl Rove? Scott hired Barnett becuase this is what he does.

It is about time for people in Massachusetts to see Scott Brown for who he is.  This man does not care about WOMEN VALUES.  Elizabeth is an  Excellent Women who share the same passion as other women.

I sincerely hope that we can bypass the Native American red herring in the third debate. It wastes time with both candidates saying the same thing over and over again, and takes away from hearing about what they would do in office.
