Gov. Deval Patrick announced Tuesday that he is calling for a number of spending cuts in an effort close a $540 million budget gap in the wake of lower-than-projected state tax revenues.

Massachusetts Secretary of Administration and Finance Jay Gonzalez joined WBUR's Morning Edition to explain more about these cuts.
