Over 7,000 Take Advantage Of Free Boston Flu Shot Clinics

BOSTON — More than 7,000 people got flu shots at free clinics across the city of Boston this weekend, and city officials say there are plenty of flu vaccines still available, with more clinics scheduled this week.

Statewide, officials say there have been 6,000 cases of the flu so far this season, 750 of them in Boston alone, where last week Mayor Thomas Menino declared a public health emergency.

Boston’s Public Health commissioner, Dr. Barbara Ferrer, joined WBUR’s Morning Edition to offer the latest on this season’s harsh flu outbreak.
