Menino To Be Closely Watched During State Of The City

BOSTON — Boston Mayor Thomas Menino delivers his state of the city address Tuesday night at Faneuil Hall. Substance-wise, reports suggest the mayor will outline what’s being called an “aggressive” agenda. But political watchers will also be looking closely to see how the mayor performs physically, following his recent long illness, to get a hint of whether Menino might run for reelection again later this year — or not.

Larry DiCara, former Boston City Council president and one-time candidate for mayor, spoke with Bob Oakes on Morning Edition to preview Menino’s speech.

Incomplete command of our English language aside, we all dread his public comments and pronouncements. Let’s just just hope it is not as bad as it’s been, and better than recent months. Hopefully he’ll announce his retirement and allow the next generation to replace him rather than be obliged to await mortality to end this saga.
