After a number of high-profile Republicans said they won't run in the special U.S. Senate election — including former Sen. Scott Brown, former Gov. William Weld and Mitt Romney son Tagg — a GOP candidate is likely to announce a run Tuesday.

State Rep. Daniel Winslow, of Norfolk, has scheduled a news conference Tuesday to announce his intentions, and The Boston Globe reports he'll announce he's "in."

For more on the race, Tufts University professor Jeff Berry joined Morning Edition Tuesday.

This program aired on February 5, 2013.
