Capuano Is Considering A Run For Governor

BOSTON — U.S. Rep. Michael Capuano is considering a run for governor.

The congressman says he’s going to take the next several months to decide whether he’s interested in running for the Corner Office.

“Part of me thinks that some of the more interesting, more important fights over the next several years might be conducted at statehouses around the country and not necessarily on Capitol Hill,” Capuano said in a phone interview. “At the moment, it looks like the Tea Party may still have Capitol Hill under siege.”

Capuano decided not to run for U.S. Senate after his colleague, Rep. Ed Markey, announced a run. Capuano says he’s not endorsing either Markey or his rival, Rep. Stephen Lynch, and he’s friends with both men.

Another potential Democratic candidate for governor, former Medicare and Medicaid administrator Donald Berwick, is holding house parties to gauge interest in a potential run.

State Treasurer Steve Grossman has also said he’s thinking of running.

Capuano has shown again and again that he wants to bring Mass back to the the 1950s with transportation policy, blocking bicycle/pedestrian improvements whenever he can (in favor of vehicular traffic). While he claims there is plenty of money for increasing vehicular infrastructure, he is now trying to derail the green line extension. Capuano is unfortunately my representative but we cant let him take MA back to the 1950s after all Patrick has done to move us forward.
