In his State of the Union address Tuesday night, President Obama laid out his agenda for his second term, which includes gun control, immigration and an end to the gridlock on fiscal issues.

"Let's agree right here, right now to keep the people's government open," Obama said, "and to pay our bills on time and always uphold the full faith and credit of the United States of America."

Obama also said it was the task of this generation to "reignite the true engine of America's economic growth — a rising, thriving middle class."

The middle class has been central to U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who joined WBUR's Morning Edition for reaction to the president's speech.

This program aired on February 13, 2013.
