Car Dealer Weighing Globe Purchase

Massachusetts auto dealer Ernie Boch Jr. is considering a new line of work: selling newspapers.

Boch is among those contemplating a bid for The Boston Globe and other local media assets that make up the New England Media Group. The New York Times Co. announced Wednesday that it plans to sell.

"Ernie is teaming up with Bruce Mittman, President and CEO of Mittcom Advertising and a partner in Community Broadcasters," Boch's spokeswoman Peggy Rose said in a statement. "Together they bring the financial resources and decades of experience in media and marketing necessary to make this purchase viable."

On Friday afternoon, Boch himself tweeted, "Print is not dead!"

Boch's interest in the Globe was first reported by the Boston Business Journal.

This program aired on February 22, 2013. The audio for this program is not available.
