The New York Times Co. is trying to reassure nervous staffers at The Boston Globe, following the surprise announcement this week that the Globe is up for sale.

Times Co. Vice Chairmen Michael Golden visited the Globe headquarters Friday for meetings with employees about plans to sell the Globe, the Worcester Telegram & Gazette, and the two papers' online news services.

Globe reporter Sean Murphy told WBUR's Deborah Becker he came away from the meeting with an optimistic outlook.

This program aired on February 22, 2013.
