Black smoke rose from the Sistine Chapel Tuesday afternoon, indicating no candidate received the two-thirds necessary (77 votes) to become the next pope. The conclave will resume Wednesday.

Boston Cardinal Sean O'Malley is still believed to be a top contender for the papacy.

Reporter and Boston University journalism professor R.D. Sahl, who is in Rome, spoke with Robert Moynihan, founding editor of Inside the Vatican magazine, about the papal candidacy of Cardinal O'Malley.

This program aired on March 12, 2013.
