BOSTON Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani on Thursday campaigned with U.S. Senate hopeful and fellow Republican Gabriel Gomez.
The two men walked along Boylston Street, shaking hands. They stopped at Marathon Sports near the location of the Boston Marathon bombings and greeted firefighters at a nearby fire station.
They also stopped by the memorial for the victims of the twin bombs in Copley Square.
Giuliani said the fact the area has come back to life so quickly and that people are eating outside shows “a resilience that is really a defense against terrorism.”
Giuliani, who is 69, also praised Gomez because he is a fresh face to politics and referred to Markey, without naming him, as “really old.”
The 66-year-old Markey has been in Congress more than three decades.
