Parents of newborns at two hospitals in Boston will be able to take part in a pilot program to study the ethical and medical consequences of sequencing a baby’s DNA.

In a study called Baby Seq, a research team from Brigham and Women’s and Boston Children’s Hospital will study DNA sequencing in newborns. Its $6 million in funding comes from the National Institutes of Health.

Dr. Robert Green, one of the study’s lead researchers, joined WBUR’s Morning Edition to discuss the study.
