The race for governor of Massachusetts is more crowded today, as Attorney General Martha Coakley formally enters the race.

Coakley launched her bid in a video posted on her website Monday morning. She joins at least four other Democrats, one Republican and one independent. She's also one of two women seeking to make history by becoming the first woman elected governor of Massachusetts.

Jane Swift, the only woman to serve as acting governor, joined WBUR's Morning Edition to discuss Coakley's candidacy.

This program aired on September 16, 2013.
