Northeastern University is asking the Pentagon to reinstate its tuition assistance program for active-duty military members, which has been suspended due to the government shutdown.

The university has stepped in to fill the funding gap for the two dozen service members at Northeastern who could have been affected. Still, Michael Armini, Northeastern's senior vice president of external affairs, says the school wants to draw attention to the issue for students who attend schools that are not taking steps to fill the gap.

This program aired on October 7, 2013.
