Patrick Postpones State Of The State Due To Storm

Gov. Deval Patrick has postponed his annual State of the State address due to the winter storm bearing down on the region.

The speech was scheduled at 7 p.m. on Tuesday but the governor said he decided to postpone it in light of the snow emergency and his decision to release non-emergency state workers.

Forecasts are calling for several inches of snow and possible blizzard conditions in parts of Massachusetts.

Patrick said his staff is coordinating with the Legislature to reschedule the State of the State address, which will be his final one as governor.

The governor said he will deliver his annual state budget to lawmakers as scheduled on Wednesday. He had planned to preview some of his budget priorities in the speech.
