Republican Enters Mass. Race For AG

A Winchester attorney is the first Republican to enter the race for attorney general in Massachusetts.

John Miller, who has no previous political experience, announced his candidacy Thursday in a statement that touted his three decades of experience practicing law in the private sector.

The announcement comes just nine days before the state Republican party holds its nominating convention in Boston.

Two-term Democratic Attorney General Martha Coakley is running for governor.

Former state Sen. Warren Tolman and Maura Healey, a former top deputy to Coakley, are vying for the Democratic nomination for the state's top law enforcement post.

Miller's statement said he had served in a leadership role in the Boston law firm of Gadsby and Hannah for the past three decades.
