Leominster Football Coach Charged With Assaulting Boy

A former Massachusetts youth football coach who allegedly sexually assaulted a boy on his team has been ordered held on $15,000 cash bail.

Benjamin Brause pleaded not guilty Monday in Leominster District Court to two counts of statutory rape and one count of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.

Prosecutors say the 36-year-old Brause sexually abused the boy between the ages of 12 and 16, often plying the boy with alcohol.

If he makes bail, Brause will be subjected to GPS monitoring and be barred from having any contact with children.

Brause's lawyer says his client is a lifelong Leominster resident with no criminal record.

Prosecutors say he coached youth football in Leominster from the 1990s through 2008, and in Lunenburg in 2009 and 2010.
