BOSTON — A bright and sunny morning will transition into a cloudier afternoon and evening as a storm system moves toward New England. The brightest part of today will be the first half as clouds thicken this afternoon. I don’t expect any rainfall before the evening commute although there may be a few showers across southwest Connecticut by then. Winds will be very light through the midday period, but increase from the southwest this afternoon. With the additional clouds it will feel cooler after 3 or 4 p.m.
Rain moves into the area this evening and lasts through the night. Although the heaviest rain should be over prior to the morning commute on Tuesday, roads will be wet and there could be lingering showers. There will be a few heavier downpours with this weather system, but it’s moving so rapidly I am not expecting any flooding issues.
Skies will clear later Tuesday afternoon and leaves us with a nice evening. The rest of the week looks dry with just the slight chance of a quick shower Friday. Temperatures wil be cool on Wednesday in the lower 50s but warm a few degrees each day heading into the weekend. A peak at the upcoming weekend shows sunny skies and mild air with highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s, just about ideal for early April.
Monday: Morning sunshine. Clouds increase in the afternoon. It becomes a bit breezy by sunset. Highs of 53 to 58.
Monday night: Mild with a period of rain, which could be heavy at times along with a thunderstorm. Lows in the 40s. Winds will be gusty.
Tuesday: Rain ends early followed by clearing in the afternoon. Breezy and mild with highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s.
Wednesday: Mostly sunny, breezy and cooler. Highs of 50 to 55.
Thursday: Sunny and seasonable.Highs in the mid 50s. Cooler at the shore.
Friday: A blend of clouds and sunshine. Highs in the upper 50s. There could be a brief shower.
