Forecast: Drier Air On The Way

BOSTON — After a very muggy and uncomfortable night I am happy to report drier air isn’t too far away. This morning we find a cold front draped across southern New England. As the front pushes south it will continue to kick off scattered showers and thunderstorms. Since the air is still so humid there is the risk some of these storms could be strong with very heavy rain.

We have turned dry the past 10 days and some rain is welcome. Unfortunately, not everyone is going to get rain today and not all of you saw rain last night. As the front continues to push south it will slowly allow drier and cooler air to filter into the area. This air will be quite refreshing and bring an end to our brief turn of heat and humidity.

Tomorrow and the weekend are looking fantastic with abundant sunshine and pleasantly dry air. Highs will be in the 70s Friday but reach the lower and eventually middle 80s by Sunday or Monday. The humidity won’t be a factor until sometime early next week, either Monday afternoon or Tuesday.

We will likely see a few areas get close to 90 next week. As I look even further out, there could be another break in the heat towards the 4th.

Thursday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could contain gusty winds and torrential downpours. Most of the showers come this morning with some afternoon sunshine.

Thursday night: There will be an evening shower or thunderstorm south of Boston but otherwise partly cloudy and turning drier late at night. lows of 60 to 66.

Friday: Lots of sunshine and pleasantly warm. Low humidity with highs in the 70s.

Saturday: Sunny and pleasant with a few clouds possible. Highs of 77 to 82.

Sunday: Sunny and warm. Highs in the lower 80s. Cooler along the beaches.

Monday: Mostly sunny and turning a bit humid late in the day. Highs in the lower to mid 80s.
