Sen. Warren Disavows PAC Urging Run For President

BOSTON — U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren on Friday issued a “formal disavowal” of a new political organization urging her to run for president in 2016.

In a letter to the Federal Election Commission, lawyers for the first-term Massachusetts Democrat said Warren “has not, and does not, explicitly or implicitly, authorize, endorse, or otherwise approve” of the Ready For Warren PAC.

The Chicago-based committee, which filed organization papers with the Federal Election Commission earlier this month, is analogous to the Ready for Hillary PAC that sparked a movement that’s been generating interest in a 2016 presidential bid by Hillary Rodham Clinton for nearly two years.

That group has raised and spent millions of dollars to support a Clinton candidacy, although she has not said whether she intends to run.

Warren’s attorneys said the letter “serves as a formal disavowal” of Ready for Warren, both its formation and activities.

They note that Warren, who was elected in 2012, has said repeatedly she’s not running for president. The lawyers also say Warren encourages the group to focus its “attention and energy” on maintaining Democratic Party control of the U.S. Senate.

Erica Sagrans, treasurer for Ready For Warren, said the group has made it clear since it launched in July that the senator is not associated with it. “I don’t think there’s anything new in this letter, and we’re continuing with our campaign to draft Elizabeth Warren to run for president in 2016 because we believe she’s the best person for the job,” she said in an email.

Sagrans, whose resume includes stints working for President Barack Obama’s campaign, the Democratic National Committee and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, said Ready for Warren organizers agree that maintaining Democratic control of the Senate is the immediate priority as the 2014 midterm elections near.

She said the group is organizing house parties starting next week where volunteers will discuss how they can support Democratic candidates in 2014 and “elevate Senator Warren’s agenda.”

We don’t need this Space SHot in any kind of political office, she doesn’t ave a clue as to what’s going on, she can’t even answer a straight question when being interviewed by the press. A real loser this one. Didn’t get my vote and wont ever.

She didn’t seem to need your vote.

No there are enough people in this state that enjoy a having immoral corrupt liar as there senator. .AH’s vote wouldn’t have mattered.

        • downtown21

Fortunately your brilliant senator is working for you even if you talk like a fool about her.

          • rc2132

I wouldn’t say she was working for me. Unless you mean she is trying to find a way to take more of my hard earned dollars to help fund her daughter and other friends of hers.
Even if she was working for me it doesn’t excuse her total dishonesty when she claimed to be a native American in order to use affirmative action to further her career. A total scumbag move. dishonest and immoral.

Except that none of that actually happened. You should really do some research on what “Affirmative Action” is and (more importantly) what it ISN’T, instead of assuming that what “everybody knows” about it is actually true. Minorities don’t get special treatment in hiring. You can argue with me about it as much as you want, it will never be true no matter how strongly you believe it. She got her job at Harvard and has been so successful because she’s brilliant, and no other reason. Who do you think you are to point to someone else’s success and accuse them of not earning it? What evidence do you have? Because a guy desperate to save his job told you so? Is it only people claiming minority status that you accuse of not earning their success? Do you have any idea how racist that is?
