BOSTON All bus routes will run Wednesday morning, but because at least 15 drivers did not show up to work parents should expect delays.
Boston Public Schools spokesman Lee McGuire says it is a working process to find drivers for the 3,500 students who went back to school this week, as employees are negotiating contracts with the company who runs the bus service.
On Monday at least 400 students were stranded as drivers who promised to cover routes did not show up.
“We need to know this in advance so that families know the bus will be on time, and until we have that assurance, we’re still in this place where we have to tell families that we just can’t guarantee everything, and that’s just not where we want to be,” McGuire said.
Mayor Marty Walsh said only a small number of drivers are refusing to select bus routes, but the majority of the drivers union and the company that runs the city’s bus service are working to negotiate a new contract.
