It's Been 10 Years Since 'The Steal' Saved The Red Sox

It's a big anniversary for Boston and Red Sox Nation.

Ten years ago, on Oct. 17, 2004, "The Steal" catapulted the Sox over the Yankees in Game 4 of the ALCS — the first of Boston's four wins in its epic series comeback.

"The Steal" refers to Dave Roberts' ninth-inning, pinch-running swipe of second base off future Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera. Roberts then scored the tying run on Bill Mueller's hit, and the Sox won in extra innings. (Read this great 2005 Bob Ryan column on the steal.)

Four wins later, the Red Sox won the World Series over the Cardinals, breaking the "Curse."

The Sox — fresh off a last-place finish this year, and only watching the Giants-Royals World Series — are reminding fans of the base-stealing moment. They just sent out this clip:
