Remembering Graboys, Who Was 'Born A Doctor' — A Doctor Who Would Later Fight His Own Illnesses
ResumeBoston cardiologist Dr. Thomas Graboys was known not only for his love of medicine, but also for the intimate attention he paid to his patients.
His former colleague Dr. Bernard Lown spoke about Graboys in 2008, saying, "You’re made a doctor and you’re born a doctor. Tom was born a doctor."
The 70-year-old Graboys had not been seen in public for some time, as he fought Parkinson's disease and dementia.
Back in 2008, we visited Graboys and his wife, Victoria, to discuss his book, "Life in the Balance: A Physician's Memoir of Life, Love, and Loss with Parkinson's Disease and Dementia" on Morning Edition. He died on Jan. 5.
