BOSTON While the state’s new governor and lieutenant governor took office nearly two weeks ago, Wednesday is Inauguration Day for the state’s other constitutional officeholders.
Among the new faces in state government is new Attorney General Maura Healey, a 43-year-old Democrat from Charlestown.
We heard from outgoing Attorney General Martha Coakley on her last day in office. Now we turn to Healey, who’s about to become the state’s 55th attorney general.
Healey will unveil her plan for a new Division of Community Engagement when she takes her oath of office Wednesday. The first openly gay attorney general, Healey has also pointed to the state’s ongoing battle against heroin and prescription drug abuse as a top priority.
Healey discusses other priorities and what sets her apart from her predecessors on Morning Edition. To hear the full interview, click on the audio player above.
